Champagne, popcorn & Chanel: Inside our preview screening of ‘Spencer’

Royalists, K-Stew fans and lovers of Chanel have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Pablo Larraín’s Spencer since it premiered at Cannes last year.

The “fable from a true tragedy” follows Princess Diana (played by a luminous Kristen Stewart) on a doomed Christmas visit to the Queen’s Sandringham estate. Featuring incredible costumes by Chanel and a dark tapestry of food and garden-scapes, it’s a sumptuous must-watch film; though don’t expect the frothy royal take of The Crown, this is a much darker tale.

On Tuesday night Ensemble hosted an exclusive preview screening of Spencer ahead of its release on Thursday January 20, with thanks to our friends at Roadshow.

Hosted on the big screen at Event Cinemas Newmarket, guests - including Kate Sylvester, Juliette Hogan, Elisabeth Findlay of Zambesi, Chloë Swarbrick, Chris Parker, Anna Coddington, Deanna Didovich of Ruby, Paris Mitchell-Temple of Paris Georgia, Sarah Harris-Gould and Lauren Tapper of Harris Tapper, Jess Molina, Beck Wadworth, Zeenat Wilkinson, Rob Tennent, Charlotte Ryan, Sarah Stuart and Tanya Carlson - were welcomed by royal-esque attendants holding Champagne, and an awkward royal family photo set up reminiscent of a drawing room at Sandringham. Keep scrolling for some of the resulting fun photos.

Editor's note/TW: Spencer features depictions of eating disorders and self-harm which may be triggering for some. Please do take care when seeing the film.
