Longer days, lighter layers, fresher flavours... spring is officially here. We've rounded up the pieces, treats and beauty must-haves we can't wait to bring into the new season.
Wilbur Hsu T-shirt, $168

The Keep’s Fashion Parade at Goblin was one of my favourite moments of NZ Fashion Week, with Wilbur Hsu’s beautiful collection, titled Family Portrait and a tribute to his late mother, being one of the many standouts from the group show. The pieces are available from Karangahape Road store The Keep, but after the show I immediately went to see what was on Wilbur’s website and saw these sweet T-shirts featuring his own drawings as a 7-year-old, found while he was cleaning his mother’s house. There are three illustrations, all inspired by the 1998 hit Chinese-Taiwanese TV series My Fair Princess, but this colourful one is my favourite and saved to my ‘shopping’ folder to buy at some point. I love sentimental fashion stories, and playful, childlike prints. – Zoe Walker Ahwa
Daylight Moon ‘Chaos Reigns’ T-shirt, $229

Another, very different type of tee on my wishlist. I’m a fan of Daylight Moon, the brand from Madeleine Richards (she used to do one of my favourite Auckland boutiques Made and also the brand Maw; IYKYK), and this cropped navy tee with brat green writing caught my eye when I saw it on Instagram. As I said in the comments of the post to Rebecca: this is basically Ensemble merch. – ZWA
Sylvester slip, $299

It’s getting warmer! Ever so slightly, but enough that my window shopping has moved from sweaters to cute slips like this. Kat from the Sylvester team wore this to their Ensemble Fashion Film Festival screening of The Shining, and I’ve had my eye on the website for its release since. – Sophie Albornett
Matan Fadida trousers, $240, from Kiosk

Originally from New Zealand, this London-based designer works across various practices including homewares and fashion. I like the idea of ties as fasteners instead of zips and buttons, and these trousers would be a great transitional piece for the summer days we desperately need right now. – Dan Ahwa
Lela Jacobs x Nicola Shanley tie, $420

People who think Tāmaki Makaurau has no bohemians left are very wrong and this hand-painted tie gets that message across. – Emma Gleason
Fundraiser black doris plum Victoria sponge, $130

If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I love a Victoria sponge and a cup of tea (Yorkshire, two tea bags). I haven’t had a chance to try anything from local cake maker Fundraiser but they’ve been on my radar for a while after I saw their special Russian Honey Cake (!!!) on Instagram. I’m keen to try pretty much everything from their nostalgic-tinged menu, but the classic sponge with mascarpone and black Doris plum jam is top of the list right now. They also recently started to donate 4% of monthly sales to charity, true to their name, which is a lovely bonus. – ZWA
Swedish Stockings lace tights, $81, from Underlena

Despite my habit of ripping them, I’m trying to grow my tights collection. Unfortunately, a lot of the fun pairs I see online look very dropshipped, so I was thrilled to see local legends Underlena stocking Swedish Stockings. Spotting Yawynne wearing this pair in ivory at NZ Fashion Week was the final nail in the coffin. They’re looking to be my post-assignment treat (but maybe at the end of the semester). – SA
Rhoda Nunn off-cut tee, $100

I love Rhoda Nunn, and have wanted one of the brand's zany off-cut bikini tees since I saw them at Ahua earlier this year and again at Into the Archives, and spring 2025 calls for surrealism (because things are weird). – EG
Claudia Li bow shirt, $750

“She really knows how to tie a bow” Zoe whispered to me, as models walked the catwalk at Claudia Li’s very Ensemble-coded show. I’m not sure I would be able to tie this shirt as perfectly as the designer, but I would love the opportunity to try. - Rebecca Wadey
Otsu ‘Hiyori’ overall, $432

I love an overall and I love a naughty back detail (the straps on this one plunge at the back, and the perks of mastectomy - I don’t need to wear a bra) so this, from Japanese born Pōneke based brand Otsu ticks all my boxes. It can be worn alone for spring/summer or layered up for winter. Want. - RW
Zoe & Morgan ‘Bianca’ earrings, $119

I have a love hate relationship with accessories. I love them, but I often second guess them. I am lazy! I’ve decided what I need are some simple earrings to give me confidence in my accessory journey, and these beautiful subtle-yet-fancy earrings from Zoe & Morgan are just the ticket. - RW
