Where Kimbra spends her time and money

Recently returned from her homebase of New York to appear as a judge on TV2’s new series of Popstars (yes, the 1999 reality show that gave us TrueBliss), Hamilton-born Kimbra has fast acclimatised back to the best of Aotearoa.

The Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and music producer is mentoring musicians on the show alongside fellow judges Nathan King and Vince Harder. Herewith, some of Kimbra’s favourite places to spend her time and money while in town.

Favourite place for a drink?

I love Clipper for a wind-down cocktail in the evening. I like to tell them what I'm feeling and have them make a custom, surprise drink. They always nail it.

Where do you get your morning coffee?

After a long night shooting Popstars, there's nothing better than a morning coffee from Atomic in Kingsland to get me geared up for the day.

Best place for breakfast?

My favourite is Harlan Pepper. They do an amazing eggs Benedict and the peeps that work there are just so sweet.

Best sunglasses?

My go-to during an NZ summer is always Karen Walker! I love her quirkier designs, they're perfect.

Best place to buy jeans?

My favourite jeans brand right now is Rolla's. I especially like shopping at their outlet store in Kingsland where you get some sweet finds.

Favourite place for date night?

My favourite spot for a solo-date or catching up with friends is Tanuki's Cave. It's got so much vibe and great Japanese food.

Popstars airs Monday-Wednesday, 7.30pm, on TVNZ2, with the first episode on April 12.
