Eyewear to suit every side of you

We’re huge believers in having an eyewear wardrobe. Our summer personalities are bold and varied. What suits us for an unplugged, off-duty day at the beach is very different to an afternoon spent drinking pét-nats at a hip bar with friends.

In recognition of these different sides to individual style, Specsavers has a two-for-one deal to make your eyewear purchases that much easier this summer. Priced from just $299 for two pairs and ranging from their own in-house label through to designer brands such as Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger, they have everything from the affordable and effortless through to irreverent glam.

Photographer Guy Coombes captured some of our favourite people to celebrate the different sides to their personalities as embodied through their sunglasses.

Tanya Barlow, hair, makeup and nail artist

“I like to approach my personal style with humour first and foremost. I like having fun with fashion, including my eyewear,  expressing myself with it and not taking things too seriously. I picked up this ‘Don’t be a dick’ T-shirt in New York, so it’s a favourite for sentimental reasons - and as a personal rule I try to live by. I’ve also been enjoying feeling empowered by clothes that were made with fat bodies in mind, and that exude a lot of personality; like this jumpsuit from size-inclusive brand Fashion Brand Company - the perfect match with these stripey frames.”

Roma Timpson, freelance marketing/photography, and yoga teacher

“I love surfing and generally have a pretty natural summer beach vibe, but I do love Splore each year and really pushing myself out of my comfort zone in terms of dressing up and freedom of expression. I love to live at either of these two extremes and have a pair of glasses for both!”

Lofa Totua, writer and retail assistant

“My style drifts depending on my mood but I feel most like a boss when I am wearing all black - baggy long-sleeved men's shirts are my go-to, paired with statement accessories like dark glasses. In summer - for parties, weddings and so on - I love to wear long, soft dresses that are easy to throw on and most importantly, comfortable to dance in. Matching frames complete the look.”

Louise Rae, makeup artist

“My style changes from day to day and is always a true reflection of how I am feeling - I am either very relaxed and casual or a bit more dressed up, but almost always with a pop of colour and a strong and confident pair of glasses. Style is to be celebrated and have fun with, but most importantly, it needs to express the true you.”
